INDIRA GANDHI MEMORIAL TULIP GARDEN
As the Rose Garden is one of the major tourist attractions for most of the visitors, so too is the Tulip Garden of Srinagar which is more beautiful than the tulip garden in Amsterdam. It’s referred to as Asia’s largest tulip garden and it plays host to the annual Kashmir Tulip Festival. These gardens are spread over an area of around 12 hectares which make it the largest tulip Gardens in Asia. The festival includes over 40 different colors of tulips to make the garden attractive beyond the tulip season.
Gondola- Asia’s longest and Highest Cable Car
Heading around approx 60 kms towards the western part of Kashmir, the snow capital Gulmarg is located. A place to have a wonderful view of the snow capped mountains and white landscapes. Do not forgot to experience the Asia’s highest and longest cable car (Gondola) and second highest in the world on a height of 13780ft. This Gondola provides 2 stages of the cable care and the chair lift for the ski lovers. Gulmarg is also known as the SKI Resort of India. Winter sports lovers do visit this place in the winters for their sports like ski; ice skating, ice Hockey Etc.
Pahalgam- Place of Peace and Calmness
Travelling to east around 150 Kms via Srinagar and Anantnag, one of the major tourist attractions Pahalgam comes. This is the place famous for its peace & calmness. Situated at the tip of Lidder river and Sheshnag lake, Pahalgam is surrounded by thickly wooded pine forests, snow clad high mountains & beautiful vistas of meadows. Serving as the base camp during the Amarnath Yatra, the Pahalgam-Chandanwati-Amarnath route is preferred by tourists trying to reach the mountain cave of Lord Shiva. During your visit to the town one can also experience the Snow festival which is around two daylong events including many winter sports Activities like skiing, snow-sledging and many more which tourists can participate in. However, the main attraction among all these activities available for tourists is the white water rafting facility winding down the Lidder River through the forests and down the rapids.
Sonmarg – Meadow of Gold
This hill station is about 40 kms to the north from Srinagar surrounded with snowy mountains against a cerulean sky. The Sindh meanders along here and abounds with trout and mahseer. Snow trout can also be caught in the main river. It also offer the major Himalayan Glaciers named Thajiwas Glaciers, Kolhoi Glacier and Machoi Glacier with some peaks of above 5000 meters like Sirbal Peak, Kolhoi Peak, Amarnath Peakand Machoi Peak. And a famous tracking routes of himayals the seven lakes leads from this valley. A close by excursion is to Baltal, 15 km East of Sonamarg.
